Land use and land cover changes have become important for managing natural resources and monitoring environmental changes. Knowledge of vegetation mapping is important for evaluating land use and land cover changes and has been applied to assess the health of forest\u2019s, grassland, agricultural resources, water bodies. Regular viewing of land surface from space is crucial to understanding the impact of man\u2019s activities on natural resources. In this regard, remote sensing has become important science and art of getting information about an object from space. Through remote sensing, data is in abundance for individuals, students, government workers and organizations to monitor environmental changes. A critical factor, however, is the technique of assessing, retrieving, evaluating, manipulating and processing these satellite data to derive meaningful information. Participants will, therefore, acquire hands-on skills for use in Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing as a tool to retrieve, store, and process, analyze, visualize and interpret land cover and land-use changes.<\/div>\n

\u2022 Information retrieval using Remote Sensing tools<\/p>\n

\u2022 Pre-process land cover and land use images<\/p>\n

\u2022 Classify land cover maps and images<\/p>\n

\u2022 Assessment of land cover and land use accuracy assessment<\/p>\n

No prior knowledge of Remote Sensing or GIS is required. A personal Laptop is required.<\/div>\n
