A team from the University of Energy and Natural Resources at the Earth Observation Research Innovation Center (EORIC-UENR) undertook a field trip to the Bia-Tano forest reserve in Mim on the 15th of September 2017. The team from EORIC-UENR comprised of Mr. Caleb Mensah, Mr. Quashie Ellogah Trinity, Mr. Dekongmen Benjamin Wullobayi and Mr. Richmond Owusu Barnieh. The main agenda was to demarcate an area where the tower will be constructed in the forest and also pick coordinates for the carbon tower project. We stopped at the Goaso Forestry commission where the Deputy District Director for the Goaso Forestry Commission and four other junior officers joined us to the allocated area within the forest. These officers assisted us with another GPS to help take the coordinates. Some coordinates were picked at the entry point of the forest and some too were taken at a distance of 100m away deep into the forest at the proposed point for siting of the tower. However, square coordinates were also taken as the demarcated point for the installation of the Tower, after which, marks were also made on some trees as the designated site for mounting the tower. Two GPSs were used to pick the coordinates. One GPS from the school of natural resources-UENR and one also from the Goaso Forestry Commission.
