The GEONETCast Centre at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, is organizing a training workshop designed to introduce participants to the basic concepts and operational skills necessary to acquire and use products obtained through the GEONETCast system and to apply them for Climate, Water and Environmental applications. The emphasis will be on applications for Water and Food Security and Environmental Monitoring.
• Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS)
• Practical – GIS and RS with Open Software
• Introduction to GEONETCAST data system
• Case Studies (Water, Health, Energy, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Ecosystems, Disasters, Weather and Climate)
• Submission of Case Studies & Evaluation
• Presentation of selected 10 Case Studies
The workshop is developed for professionals which include the staff of the Ministries of Water, Energy, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development and Researchers in Water Resources, Agriculture, Environmental and Natural Resources Management, Meteorology, Geo-information and Remote Sensing Scientists who want to use near real-time geospatial data for monitoring and planning purposes.
What is to be achieved?

Participants can select a number of case studies to review the methodology and applicability of the Earth Observation data.
Why Choose This Workshop?
The workshop gives you practical skills and up-to-date knowledge on how to monitor natural resources from space. With the open-source software, you can easily build your own applications and analyses schemes related to your interest.
