Dr Prince Antwi-Agyei holds a PhD in Environmental Sanitation and Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is an experienced Researcher and Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in Industry and Academia and is currently a lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani – Ghana. He is skilled in Sustainable Development, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Rural and Urban Development, and Environmental Awareness and sustainability. Specific areas of interest are: Faecal Sludge Management, Solid and hazardous waste engineering and management, Health Risks Assessment, Low-cost sanitation options, Wastewater management, Rural and Small-Town Water Supply, and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. Dr Antwi-Agyei has performed several leadership roles including being the Ghana lead for several projects including the QUISS Project (Quality Indicators of Shared Sanitation Facilities) and the Urban sanitation costs and low-income consumers’ willingness-to-pay project under the Urban Sanitation Research Initiative in Ghana, Kenya and Bangladesh. He is the Research Coordinator and Environmental and Social Safeguard Specialist for the Regional Centre of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) at UENR. Recently, he was a panellist for the Guardian (UK) to discuss how to turn wastewater from nuisance to resource as part of activities marking 2017 World Water Day. He is also the board chair for Trimark Aquaculture Business Centre, A Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement between Trimark and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). He was also a committee member constituted by the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology to assess the extent of the problem of liquid waste management in Accra and Tema metropolitan areas and prescribe immediate and long-term solutions to the problem. Dr Antwi-Agyei possesses strong writing skills with several peer-reviewed publications and is a reviewer for several journals including Journal of water, sanitation and health, Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development, BMC Public Health, Waterlines, and Scientific African. He has over 17 years of professional experience and has worked in several countries including Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Malawi and the United Kingdom. He has also collaborated with several organisations including the UNHCR, UNICEF, London School of Tropical Medicine (UK), IMC Worldwide (UK), the Aquaya Institute (USA), Eawag/Sandec (Switzerland), Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP – UK), Opportunity International (UK), and TREND Group (Ghana)
