On the 26th April 2018, a team led by the Pro Vices Chancellor of University of Energy and Natural Resources Professor Emmanuel Opuni-Frimpong with Professor Michal Marek from Global Change Research Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech to Mim Bia-Tano Forest Reserve for Professor Marek to validate and approve of the area demarcated for the location of Carbon Flux Monitoring Tower in the forest. Carbon Flux Monitoring Tower is a project between the University of Energy and Natural Resources and the Global Change Research Institute, Czech Academy of Sciences for research and education. Professor Michal Marek, being his first time in his career and his age has to walk about 4km in and out of the thick forest near Gambia No, though tired and exhausted, he was happy about the location agreed that the tower should be erected there. Other members include Dr Amos T. Kabo-bah, Head of EORIC, Mr Ernest Adofo, Goaso Forest Commission, Mr Caleb Mensah, Ellogah Quashie Trinity, Evans Yaw Adom, four national service personnel at EORIC and two Germany students. The next step will be an access road to the forest and the construction of the tower to begin as soon as possible
